How is this two-week
intensive different than your usual course?
It's the exact same curriculum. Unlike the weekend format
where we require you to do 20 hours of massage on your own
time, we actually schedule this practice for you and take you
on-site to various corporations or events where you'll work
under supervision. As well, you'll have some one-on-one time
with an instructor at some point during the training, which is
something we don't typically do. Lastly, your practical exam
is scheduled for the last Sunday of the course and the exam
fee is done at no cost.
What
is the cost of the course?
The tuition fee
is only CAN$1,600. It includes
your instruction, class notes, reference videos, supervised
practice, organized placements for practice, a one-on-one
tutorial, your final practical exam, the Marketing Chair Massage 101
e-course and great post-graduate support.
We can arrange the purchase of a chair and two weeks
accommodation at a very reasonable rate.
What
deposit do you require?
We require a $200 deposit to secure your
place in the program. If you go through the entire program
and then decide you were unsatisfied for any reason, we will
be happy to refund the deposit and any other
money you've paid.
What
financing is available?
The balance of the course fee is due on the first day of
class. However, if needed we can finance the tuition and your
chair through six monthly payments.
Are there any other costs
associated with this 2-week program?
The two-week course fee
includes everything you need to get certified. The only other
cost is your chair and we can include that in a course package
for a very reasonable fee.
Of course if you are
traveling in from out of town you'll have travel and
accommodation costs.
The prices quoted on this
site do not include applicable taxes. (Darn taxes!) However,
if you are from outside of Canada you can request a rebate of
the GST (Goods and Services Tax) when you leave the country.
How many
people are in the class?
For the two week intensives, we will take 20
participants only in Toronto.
In the Vancouver intensive, we will take a maximum of 12. This ensures personalized attention for every student. These courses will sell
out well before the start dates. If you are interested,
call and register
as soon as possible.
Can
I take the program if I don't have any previous massage experience?
This course is specifically designed for people with no previous
experience doing massage. If you do have experience or even
a natural talent, so much the better.
Can
anyone take the Relax to the Max training?
This is an incredible opportunity, but its not for everyone.
Its an intensive program to say the least. You need
to be relatively healthy and have some stamina. Youll
be doing three to four hours of massage per day. You learn
principles and techniques that make doing massage easy, but
at the same time the class is physical.
If you have any pre-existing problems with
your hands, arms, or knees or back, we ask you not to register
for the program. Youd be better off doing the extended
program so that your body has more of an opportunity to adapt
to the demands.
Who
do we practice on?
In class, you will be practicing on your fellow students.
That means that not only will you be giving massage, but you'll
enjoy being on the receiving end as well.
Some feel that this alone is worth the cost of the course.
In addition, you will be set up at a number of supervised
placements with your fellow students. These will be done at
local companies. Where possible, we will try to tie them into
a charitable event.
What
are the accommodations like?
Accommodations in Toronto will be at the Michener Institute's Schatz
Hall Residence, a short 15 minute walk from our class
location. These are single accommodation rooms.
Each has a four piece bath and local telephone service. Linens
and towels are provided. Each floor has a television lounge,
kitchen facilities (no cookware provided) and laundry
facilities. Fitness facilities include a gym and sauna. Rooms are very limited, so register ASAP.
Accommodations in Vancouver
are at the Gage Residence on the beautiful University of
British Columbia campus. The rooms are single rooms with a
shared bathroom. Beds are made daily and towels changed daily.
There are lots of places to eat around campus. The classes
will be held in the Gage building so you don't have to worry about transportation to and
from the workshop facilities. (Simply roll out of bed and
insert yourself into a massage chair.) I stayed there myself
and the unobstructed ocean view was nothing less
than spectacular and the sunsets were awesome to say the
least.
If you prefer a hotel stay, we can provide you with a list
of local hotels and/or bed and breakfast accommodations.
